What is a Group Voyage?
When you join this Group Voyage, you travel alongside other guests who have booked through Phoenix Voyages — and you enjoy an exclusive $125 per person group discount off Viking’s cruise-only rates. Your dedicated travel advisor, Julie Lanouette, will handle every detail from booking to departure.
Julie has secured exclusive group pricing on Viking’s celebrated Elegant Elbe itinerary aboard the Viking Beyla — a 10-day journey through the heart of Germany and the Czech Republic. This is not just a cruise; it’s a cultural immersion that begins in vibrant Berlin, sails through the dramatic sandstone cliffs of Saxon Switzerland, explores the baroque splendour of Dresden, and ends in the fairy-tale city of Prague.
Your Itinerary — Day by Day
10 days through Germany and the Czech Republic, with 5 nights aboard the Viking Beyla and 2-night hotel stays in both Berlin and Prague.
Day 1: Berlin — Arrival
Arrive in Berlin, one of Europe’s most dynamic capitals. Check in to the Hilton Berlin (or similar) and spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace. Stroll along Unter den Linden, visit the Brandenburg Gate, or enjoy dinner in the trendy Mitte district.
Day 2: Berlin — Panoramic City Tour
A guided Panoramic Berlin tour takes you through the city’s iconic landmarks — the Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall Memorial, Museum Island, and more. The afternoon is yours to explore further: world-class museums, the vibrant East Side Gallery, or the legendary KaDeWe department store.
Day 3: Berlin → Potsdam → Wittenberg — Embarkation
Check out of your Berlin hotel and travel to Potsdam for a walking tour of this UNESCO-listed city of palaces and gardens — including Sanssouci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great. Continue to Wittenberg where you embark the Viking Beyla for the first time. Welcome dinner aboard your floating home for the next five nights.
Day 4: Wittenberg → Torgau — Luther’s Legacy
Explore Wittenberg, the birthplace of the Protestant Reformation. Walk to the Castle Church where Martin Luther famously nailed his 95 Theses, visit the Luther House museum, and see the Melanchthon House. In the afternoon, cruise to Torgau as the Elbe River landscapes unfold.
Day 5: Meissen — Porcelain & Medieval Charm
Arrive in Meissen, famous worldwide for its exquisite porcelain. Tour the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory to watch artisans at work, then explore the charming medieval Old Town with its hilltop castle, Gothic cathedral, and cobblestone lanes.
Day 6: Dresden — The Florence of the Elbe
A full day in magnificent Dresden — one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. Your Panoramic Dresden tour showcases the rebuilt Frauenkirche, the stunning Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, and the famous Procession of Princes mural. Spend the afternoon visiting world-class museums or strolling along Brühl’s Terrace, the “Balcony of Europe.”
Day 7: Saxon Switzerland → Bad Schandau → Děčín — Scenic Cruising
The highlight of the river journey — cruise through the breathtaking Saxon Switzerland National Park, where towering sandstone pillars rise hundreds of metres above the Elbe. Dock at Bad Schandau for an excursion to The Bastei, a dramatic rock formation with panoramic views that will take your breath away. Continue into the Czech Republic as the ship crosses the border to Děčín.
Day 8: Děčín → Prague — Disembarkation
Disembark in Děčín and transfer by motor coach to Prague, the “City of a Hundred Spires.” Check in to the Hilton Prague (or similar) and enjoy a Panoramic Prague tour featuring Hradčany Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, and the iconic Charles Bridge. The rest of the evening is yours to explore Prague’s magical atmosphere.
Day 9: Prague — Free Day
A full free day to explore Prague at your own pace. Wander through the Jewish Quarter (Josefov), browse the stalls in the Old Town Square, visit the Astronomical Clock, or take a day trip to Kutna Hora. In the evening, enjoy a Czech folkloric performance — a wonderful farewell to an unforgettable journey.
Day 10: Prague — Departure
After breakfast, check out and depart Prague, or extend your stay to explore more of the Czech Republic.
